The World Health Organization released a major statement today concerning Cancer Research and Diet. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)  gathered a group of 22  Scientists  from 10 different Countries and they evaluated the carcinogenicity of eating Red and Processed Meats. What they determined was major... According to their research eating Red Meats was determined as probably carcinogenic. However they also concluded that consumption of Processed meat IS... Carcinogenic.
Wikihow

WHO.int
According to WHO,  Red Meat consists of Beef, Veal, Lamb, Mutton, Pork, Horse, and Goat. Also,  "Processed" means meat that has been salted, cured, fermented, smoked  or undergone any other process to enhance flavor and improve preservation. The most common Examples of these types of meats are Hot Dogs, Bacon, ham, sausages, and beef jerky.  Other carcinogenic elements are added to meat through charring and cooking with extreme heat such as grilling also. The types of cancer associated with consumption of these meats were Colon Cancer, then most common, as well as Pancreatic and Prostate Cancer.  It does not mean that consumption is as dangerous an other Cancer causes such as Smoking but it is definitely a risk nonetheless. In my opinion , more studies should definitely be conducted to determine if its the meat or the chemicals involved in its preparation for consumption. so we can know what specifically to avoid. Question is, Would you be willing to change your diet based on this new scientific research? What are some alternatives to Red and Processed meats that are worthy substitutes? And Is it better to avoid eating meat altogether? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Tha Vantage Review: Air Jordan 8 "Aqua"

November 27th  2015 Marks the release date for The Air Jordan 8 "Aqua". This just so happens to be my personal favorite Air Jordan of All time. I was able to pick up a retro 2007 pair from eBay for a decent price in order to avoid the chaos that is Black Friday.  The Quality of the older pairs seems to be higher than even the most recent "Remastered " releases.
From the Color scheme to the Straps, From the bottom to the Logo on the Tongue, there is nothing I don't like about this sneaker. Very unique in terms of design, this was one of Tinker Hatfield's finest creations. Check out the review video below complete with an on feet look at the Air Jordan 8 "Aqua" and let us know your thoughts on the sneaker in the comments.

Officer Billy Ray Fields and The "Good Cop" Movement

In a time when there are high tensions between the general public and Law enforcement, one Officer attempts to be the voice of reason. Billy Ray Fields has started a movement that encourages Good Cops to come forward and/or intervene when there are abuses of power. Not only is he a police officer,  but he is African American as well. This is very important, considering that it has been proven that African Americans are unfairly targeted and frequently mistreated by law enforcement officers. Officer Fields wants to bridge the Gap and His message is simple. At a time of high scrutiny of the police via cellphone videos and more, he invites "Good Cops" to call out and/or have Crooked and Racist police removed from their positions.

"It's the Perfect Time to be A Cop"

He has put out several viral videos speaking on this subject. Some even say he is risking his life and badge which is surprising considering he is only telling the truth.  In these videos he explains that now with all this exposure police are getting it is the perfect time to clean house of all the Police who abuse their Power. He also touches on the idea of  "Community Oriented Policing", which, in short,  is interacting with the citizens that police are protecting and serving in order to develop a better bond the people. This ultimately makes everyones lives easier by creating a positive relationship on both sides.  He openly expresses his condolences to the families that have lost loved ones due to police brutality. "It's deeper than social media",  he states.

"We have to invest in the community...., and make better choices, which ultimately determine our development as Adults."

His viewpoints are very balanced, mostly due to his upbringing,  and he has a very common sense approach to policing that needs to be promoted.  Check out his videos below and let us know what you think about the "Good Cop Movement" in the comments below.

Heavily influenced by Outkast and UGK, K.R.I.T. is true to the south. Whether its a strong bass line that you can ride out on or a mellow jazz type beat to chill with, you can find it all on this new Mixtape titled "It's Better This Way".

Why I DON'T Acknowledge Columbus Day

What's to Celebrate about Christopher Columbus? In 1492, Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue...But what Exactly Did he Do? America seems to Love him, even naming the Federal U.S. capital after him " District of Columbia". Now that we are Adults, Let's ask a few questions...
wikipedia.com
1. Did Columbus Discover America?

Answer:

No, In fact there were already Millions of people living in North America in 1492. This is completely False. Amerigo Vespucci was actually the first European to determine that North america was separate continent from Asia, and later the land was named "Americus" after him on a Map.

wikipedia.com

2. Did He even Come to America?

Answer:

No, Actually he landed in the Bahamas in October Bringing many diseases along with him and his crew of sailors. He then went on to explore much of the Caribbean and some of South America.

www.americanindiansource.com
3. What Did he Actually Do?

Answer:

Columbus had an agreement with the king and queen of Spain that stated he could have a stake in whatever  precious resources and materials he discovered. He actually, deceived the native Taino people of modern day Haiti/Dominican Republic.  Columbus Forced the natives into slavery and killed or mutilated many of them for not performing in gold mines, for these crimes against humanity he was later tried and stripped of his power. Even his own appointed workers revolted against him for lying about the vast riches of the New World, and Misgoverning his colonies.
These are a few reasons that I see no point in acknowledging this person.  Although his exploration linked two parts of the world, it can also be said that he did more harm than Good.  As a result, Many people choose to celebrate "Indigenous Peoples Day", honoring the Native American Indians and their culture. Who are some other historical figures whose actual story was different than what you were taught? Let us know in the comments below.

Covering The Million Man March

Justiceorelse.com

October 10th was the 20th Anniversary of the Million Man March. Taking Place In Washington D.C., Tens of thousands of Cultural Enthusiasts, Activists, Celebrities, Athletes, Political Figures and More converged on the Nation's Capitol for this historic event.

The Message was "Justice Or Else", which is inspired by the vast disparities in how people of color are treated under the law versus other races. The march also shed light on Social and Economic disadvantages as well. The message was clear, equal justice for all people, or else face Divine Judgement of God.

"Justice should never look at your color.  Justice should never look at your position or posture.  Justice should have on one side of the scale the weight of facts and on the other side our actions in accord with those facts. When you have liberty but not justice then there is no joy in being free because the only reason that people are joyous in liberty is that there is justice coming to them in society."

Many people across the country were surprised at the lack of Coverage from major Media Outlets this event had in comparison to other more dramatic events such as the Riots in Ferguson, and Baltimore. Headed up by Min. Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, the march was heavily scrutinized by critics due to his notorious stance on race relations, sexual orientation (anti-Gay), as well as woman rights.

All in All this year's event was considered as a Success. By drawing much needed attention to important issues and clearly laying out the demands of the people, the energy of the movement has been rejuvenated. Check out this recap Video, and comment your thoughts on the Million Man March and what are some other ways the people can gather the governments attention when it comes to matters of equality.

Scotty ATL: The Cooligan

It's rare that you pop in a CD an instantly dig the vibe. Fortunately, I chose to Listen to Scotty ATL's new mixtape.
Datpiff.com
Titled, "The Cooligan" this mixtape quickly took my attention away from #WATTBA. I'm not really a bandwagoner when it comes to music, I kinda just stumble upon new music. I think its better for me that way. Anyhow, The Cooligan has a handful of top notch features including, Eightball, Curren$y, Devin the Dude, and B.O.B., to name a few. Production was also on point with beats from K.E.  on the track, and even Drumma Boy.. All in all it's Dope, Authentic, and definitely worth a listen.

Purchase Scotty ATL's new mixtape here, Let us know what your favorite track is in the comments below.

Rapper T.I. took to the Stage at the 2015 Triumph Awards. This time with a different approach than usual he Blessed us with a spoken word Poem.

In the poem titled "United We Stand ",  Harris touched on the topics of social media abuse, and police brutality in america especially with the more recent events such as those in Ferguson and the Death of Sandra Bland. The rapper questions societys values, as people can some times place their own thirst for fame over the important issues we face as a whole.
